Founded by Brian Gustad, Sagewood Armament is a specialized sub-division of Sagewood Gear, with more than a decade of craftsmanship and innovation in the outdoor industry. With roots in designing and handcrafting high-end Adventure Equipment for the Bushcraft and Wilderness Survival niche, Sagewood Armament represents an expansion into the tactical and firearm accessories market, guided by the same principles of durability, functionality, and innovation.
Although Brian is just a civilian, his extensive experience as an avid backpacker, winter camper, and former Search and Rescue team member has provided him with a deep, practical understanding of gear performance in real-world conditions. His hands-on knowledge drives his design philosophy, ensuring that every product is crafted to solve real problems with simple, functional solutions that are lightweight yet durable enough for rigorous use. This approach has seamlessly transitioned into Sagewood Armament, where the focus is on creating gear that meets the needs of the modern 2A community, from enthusiasts to professionals.
Inspired by the experimental nature of Vietnam-era Recon units like MACV-SOG, SEALS, and LRRP, Brian draws parallels between their drive for innovation and his own approach to product development. These elite units paved the way for many of today’s Military and Defense Industry standards, and Sagewood Armament aims to do the same within the firearm accessories industry—pushing the boundaries of design while maintaining the requirements of durability and performance.
